Eleven-year-old Ansley is certain the flashes in the woods behind Grandma’s house have a logical explanation. Her kooky neighbor Ofelia insists it’s magic. But then the girls find a strangely beautiful stone only Ansley can hold…and accidentally trap the spirits of its warrior guardians into a pair of stuffed animals.
Tarben, whose beard and biceps were only just smaller than his ego, is furious to find himself in an cuddly teddy bear, while his long-suffering squire Smidge is quite pleased with the oversized gorilla he now inhabits. The stuffies explain that they are sworn to protect the stone in Ansley’s hand. They call it Gravidar, one of the legendary gems of the world of Kieriott. Gravidar has chosen Ansley to be its gemling, the first in over a thousand years. And it has powers unlike anything the girls expect.
Now Ansley has to face her fears, accept her new friends, and learn to control the gem. And she doesn’t have much time. An ice creature followed Tarben and Smidge to Earth and is hunting the gem for its master. With enemies closing in, this ragtag bunch calling themselves “the Gemseekers”, must defeat the creature and find the rest of gems. If they don’t, no world will be safe.
